Less than one hundred days to go before the first ball is bowled, Sports Minister Hon. Lenard Montoute is urging Saint Lucians to purchase tickets and support upcoming ICC 20/20 world cup at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.

 

12th January 2010 - Prime Minister King reaffirms support for Cuba and calls for deepening of ties
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Honourable Stephenson King, is back on the island following an official state visit to the Republic of Cuba.

 

11th January 2010 - Episode 2 of popular television series "The Bachelor" filmed on Saint Lucia airs tonight at 9:00 local time on ABC
When the island was featured on the season premier, viewers got a glimpse of what to expect when Dallas Pilot Jake Pavelka hosts three lucky bachelorettes on Saint Lucia during the final two episodes of the series, slated to be aired in February and March of this year.

In expressing his excitement about the series, Tourism Minister Allen Chastanet explained that he was “extremely pleased with the manner in which the Saint Lucia Tourist Board had worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the successful and timely filming of the episodes. What’s even more commendable is the cooperation received from a number of resorts and restaurants on Saint Lucia which will be featured prominently over the two episodes.”

Since the series premier last week, Saint Lucia has received a tremendous amount of press, particularly in the US. Below is a link to an episode of “Entertainment Tonight” that aired on Jan. 5, which highlights the lush landscapes of Saint Lucia.  “Entertainment Tonight” is a leading entertainment news show with several million viewers nightly. 11th January 2010 - Local bird book set for grand launch on January 13
The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in collaboration with the Government of Saint Lucia will be launching a Bird Book of Saint Lucia for Caribbean Schools (including two DVDs) at 10 a.m. on Wednesday 13th of January, 2010, at the Advanced Orchid Greenhouse, Union. The Prime Minister, Speaker of the House of Assembly, President of the Senate, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Senators, School principals, District education officers, students and other guests will be in attendance.

11th January 2010 - Saint Lucia government delegation completes successful mission to Cuba
Prime Minister Stephenson King along with a six (6) member delegation returned to the island over the weekend following completion of a successful five (5) day state visit to the Republic of Cuba. The delegation was met at the Jose Marti International Airport by a high level delegation headed by H.E. Senor Rogelio Sierra, Vice Foreign Minister of Cuba.  During the visit the Prime Minister and his delegation participated in an intensive programme, which generally covered the areas of education and health. The delegation also attended to matters with implications for agriculture, cultural heritage and tourism.

 

7th January 2010 - St. Jude geared to expands its services soon
The St. Jude Hospital is expected to expand its operations to the east wing of the George Odlum National Stadium in the coming weeks, to provide increased and enhanced health services to residents of the south and surrounding areas.
